Obituary
Michael J. Recore, 73, of Medford, died Tuesday, June 27 at Vitacare Assisted Living in Medford while under the care of St. Croix Hospice.
Private services will be held with burial at Evergreen II Cemetery in Medford.
He was born June 28, 1949 in Milwaukee to Clifford and Ellen (Reeder) Recore. He grew up in Milwaukee and at age 18, moved to Colby and then to Medford. Michael worked at Black River Industries for several years, where he made many friends.
Michael was best known for making scarves. He had a loom and he loved making scarves for his family and friends. He was always happy and had a big smile on his face. He enjoyed fishing, collecting coins, and cheering on the Brewers and the Packers. Many years ago, Michael saw an ad on TV to sponsor a child in another country and wanted to help. Over the many years he sponsored the child, he received letters and photos which created a wonderful friendship. He also proudly volunteered ringing the bell for the Salvation Army. On his siblings' birthdays, he made sure to call the radio station and have their birthdays announced on air to make their day extra special.
He is survived by his siblings, Terry Recore of Dorchester, Char (Jeff) Werner, Clifford Recore, Brandon (Debbie) Recore, Andrea (Dale) Neubauer, all of Medford; nieces and nephews, Shannon Kayhart of Greenwood, Robert Kayhart (Jackie) of Marshfield, Lisa (John) Clark, Adam Hainzlspenger, DuWayne Recore, Jenny (Tim) Zettler, Stacey (Dan) Baumgartner, all of Medford, Erin (Jason) Orr of Manasha, Lucas (Kathy) Wenzel of Custer, Steve Recore (Jackie), Heather Recore, all of Medford, Kendra Miller (Andrew) of Florida, Gage and Grant Neubauer of Medford; and many great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Diane Kayhart; and nephew, Lewis Wenzel.
