Michael Scott Redfern, of Star, Idaho, passed away on October 27, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of devotion to family, integrity in his work, and a deep love for the outdoors.

Michael was born on February 2, 1965, in Downey, California, to Joyce and Kenneth Redfern. He spent his early years in Southern California, attending Redhill Lutheran School from kindergarten through eighth grade, followed by El Modena High School, where he graduated in 1983, before continuing his education at USC and Long Beach State.

On April 25, 1998, Michael married the love of his life, Deborah Redfern, in Tustin, California. Together they built a life centered on family, faith, and a shared love of adventure. The couple later moved to Idaho, establishing their home in Star, a place they cherished deeply.

Michael enjoyed a long and successful career as President of R.D. Builders, Inc., where he worked as a general contractor. He took tremendous pride in his work, valuing craftsmanship, honesty, and the relationships he formed with clients and colleagues. His work ethic and leadership left an enduring mark on those who had the privilege of working alongside him.

A man who embraced life with enthusiasm, Michael loved snow skiing, photography, hiking, camping and water sports. He was an avid supporter of his children’s activities and never missed an opportunity to attend baseball and football games. Michael’s faith was an important part of his life, and he remained active in church throughout his years.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah Redfern of Star, Idaho; his children, Alexandra Figueroa of Star, Idaho; Zachary Redfern and Justin Redfern of Orange, California. He is also survived by his parents, Kenneth and Joyce Redfern of Orange, California.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Jan Hewlette.

Michael will be remembered for his warm heart, strong moral compass, dedication to family, and his passion for living life fully. His presence brought light and steadiness to those who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.

A service honoring Michael’s life will be held in Orange, California on December 14, 2025 at Salem Lutheran Church at 1:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made in Michael’s name to the organization noted by the family.
