Michael Restaino Obituary
Rockaway: Michael E. Restaino 83, of Rockaway N.J. passed away peacefully at Saint Clares Hospital on December 30, 2023.
Born on July 22,1940 in Newark N.J., Michael later raised his own family in Rockaway Township. He graduated from Barringer High School, and Newark State College which is now known as Kean University.
Michael served our country and state through the military and civilian public service, first in the Army in Vietnam (21 months of total duty and 13 months in Vietnam). He was a recipient of the Purple Heart for wounds in Vietnam.
Michael was a licensed electrician. He owned his own business (Restaino Electric Company) with his father Ernest and brother Gerard.
Michael was the Executive Director of North Jersey Water District Commission for thirty years working to promote innovation and to provide clean and safe drinking water. After his retirement in 2011, he enjoyed spending time at home with his family, down the shore and enjoying his many hobbies (carpentry and electrical work at home). He was an avid reader, was always learning something new, was a big believer in homeopathic medicine, seeing Broadway shows and traveling with his family.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years Barbara Restaino and by his two daughters Noelle Restaino and Allysa Restaino. He is also survived by his brother Gerard Restaino and his wife Judy, also his sister Patricia Restaino. He is predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Nancy Restaino(Esposito).
