Michael Richard Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory - Owensboro on Dec. 4, 2025.
Michael Jason Richard, 64, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born on October 26, 1961, in Owensboro, Kentucky, to the late William and Jo Ann Young Richard.
Michael worked for many years in the family business, Owensboro Brick, until it was sold. He was currently employed with Lee Brick and Block, where he had worked for several years and truly loved his job and his co-workers. He was a proud graduate of Owensboro Catholic High School, Class of 1979. Known by many as "Mr. Redline" while helping train Daviess County High School Cross Country. Michael enjoyed traveling across the country to support and watch his children and grandchildren participate in sports, including cross country, baseball, and soccer. He also treasured time at home watching his favorite shows, MASH*, UK basketball, westerns, and the Kentucky Derby with his family.
Michael was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Donna Christian Richard; their children: three sons, David Christian (Jen), Jon Richard (Kathleen), and Tyler Richard; and one daughter, Jessica Richard Lusk (Mark). He was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren: Colby Christian, Stella Christian, Shelby Richard, Olivia Richard, William Richard, Harper Lusk, and Hudson Lusk, all of whom he adored and cherished.
He is also survived by his siblings, Debbie Benedek and Nick Richard (Amy); several nieces and nephews; and many extended family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Patrick Richard.
Throughout his life, Michael was deeply involved with his children and grandchildren, instilling in them strong Christian values, a dedication to hard work, and a sense of integrity that will continue to guide their families for generations to come. Michael had a special gift for bringing joy into a room and putting a smile on everyone's face. His kind spirit, generous heart, and unwavering love for his family will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral Mass will be at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, December 5, 2025 at St. Stephen Cathedral. Visitation is from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday at St. Stephen Cathedral.
