Barbara Tompkins Obituary
She was born in Butler on April 1, 1953, and was the daughter to the late Robert and Jennie Hughes.
Barb worked as a registered nurse for most of her career. She was known to be selfless and giving which helped toward her work as a nurse. Since her early childhood she was a member of Thorncreek United Methodist Church at which she taught Sunday school and helped in the nursery and kindergarten. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, eating out and crossword puzzles. Above all else, she loved to be with her granddaughter and family.
She was the beloved mother of Daniel Tompkins Jr, Tommy Tompkins, and Trista (Andrew) Regrut; grandmother of Olympiada Agnes Regrut; and sister of Robert (Bonnie) Hughes Jr., Gary Hughes, Diane Hughes, and Darlene Lavery.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 48 years in February of 2020, Daniel Tompkins Sr.; and her brother, David Hughes Sr.
Tompkins - All services for Barbara Tompkins, who died Friday, Feb. 12, 2021, are through the SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler.
Memorial service details will be announced.

I knew Barbara from our elementary school years, and we also graduated from the same class in high school. She was a dear friend who meant so much to me. We spent a lot of time doing fun events together and had frequent times together later in our marriage lives. Barbara worked for an agency which represented home nursing care for the elderly. To my surprise, this agency sent Barbara to my dad's house, so she became a care taker for my dad. She went way above the call of duty making sure that my dad was well cared for. She was one of the most compassionate people that I have ever known. I will always be grateful for all that she did for my dad and for our life long friendship. She will be greatly missed.
