Mr. Michael John Roy, 65, of Sanford, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, November 19, 2021.
Michael John Roy was born the 13th of October 1956 in Norwalk, CT, where He attended Wilton High School. Upon, graduation Mike enlisted in the United States Army and served with the 2nd/505th Combat Support Company/82nd Airborne Division, 1st/509th Combat Support Company (Italy), 319th Military Intelligence Battalion, 1/325 infantry battalion, and 1st BN/7th SFG(A).
Mike's duty positions include; 54E chemical Operations Specialists, 96R Ground Surveillance Radar Crewman, and 76Y Unit Supply Specialists. His Military Education included; The Chemical Operations Course, Ground Surveillance Radar Course, Primary Leadership Course (PLDC), Basic Non-commissioned officers course (BNCOC), Advanced non-commissioned officers course (ANCOC), Battalion training management course, and the junior leadership course. Mike was also qualified as a Scuba diver/instructor and cross country ski instructor. His awards and decorations include the; Army Service Ribbon, Expert Marksmanship Badge, Expert Grenadier Badge, Senior Parachute Badge, Master Parachute Badge, Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation medal w/2OLC, Overseas Service Ribbon, Multi National Forces and Observer Ribbon. Army Good Conduct Ribbon 4th AWD, and the NCO professional Development Ribbon (3).
Upon Completion of his time in the Military, Mike earned his certifications in Information and Technology and became an IT tech for Cary Academy and later Campbell University.
Michael John Roy was a patriot, family man, biker, firearms enthusiast, musician, and a man of faith. He was instrumental in the formation of the Wingmen Motorcycle Club where he was an active member for over 30 years and was the Club's Chaplain. Mike was also involved in many other organizations such as Walk to Emmaus, NC Right to Life, Kairos Prison Ministry, and was also a member and assisted with the formation of Freedom Biker Church of Fayetteville. Mike also loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and always attended their events whether it was recitals, musicals, or baseball/softball games.
Mike loved his Wingmen Brothers, Family, and Brothers and Sisters in Christ. His life impacted many people throughout the years and he will be missed by all. WFFW GBNF
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Freedom Biker Church in Vander, with Pastor J.D. Tew presiding. A video presentation will begin at 9:30 am and the service will start at 10 am. Immediately following the service, the Wingmen Toy Run will begin.
Michael is survived by his four daughters, Laura Stanberry, Miranda Moffitt (Johnny), Christianna Roy and Emilia Roy; grandchildren, J.J. Moffitt and Lilly Moffitt; his wife, Vicky Roy; sister, Gail Ente (Stephen); mother-in-law, Roma Askea; several nieces and nephews; and all his brothers in the Wingmen Motorcycle Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lillian Roy; his brother, Peter Roy; and father-in-law, Raymond Askea.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Veterans Airlift Command or to Transitions Lifecare, 250 Hospice Drive Raleigh NC 27607.
