Michael Rushton

Michael Allen "Mike" Rushton of Montrose, Michigan, passed away on December 26, 2025, at the age of 79. He was born on April 15, 1946, in Flint, Michigan, to Ralph and Paula Grace Rushton.
Mike proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and later retired from The Flint Journal. Throughout his life, he found great enjoyment in car racing, hunting, and camping-pursuits that brought him lasting joy and connection.
He is lovingly remembered by his children: Traci (Joe) Gilman of Davison, Terri (Brian) Forbes of Davison, Jonathan Rushton of Saginaw, and Rachel (Austin) of Midland. He also leaves behind his longtime partner, Laurene McGinty of Montrose; grandchildren Kelsey, Jacob, Kacie, Krista, Kylie, Jonathan, Brooklyn, Kolby, and Jackson; and great-grandchildren Mila, Isaiah, and Andrea.
Mike is also survived by his sisters Karen (Glen) Arden of Goodrich and Marsha (Earl) Larson of Burton; his brother Andrew (Karen) of Texas; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Ralph II; and his daughter Jennifer Rushton.
A life marked by service and simple pleasures, Mike will be deeply missed by those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
Memorial services will be held Thursday January 8th, at 11 a.m. at Church of Christ in Gladwin.
