Michael Schoen Obituary

Michael J. Schoen, 64, of Elkhart, passed on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at his home.

Mike was born on June 27, 1957, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late William Joseph and Kathyleen (Quigney) Schoen. He married Marilyn Huffman on April 24, 1976, in Elkhart.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; and two sons, Ryan (Maribeth) Schoen and Todd Schoen of Elkhart; as well as two grandchildren, Maddison and Collin Schoen; sisters, Marianne (Max) Davis, Pat Rink and Eileen Yoder; and one brother, Dick Schoen.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Tom Schoen.

Mike worked for the City of Elkhart for 35 years, until his retirement in 2014. He also owned and operated his own lawn business. Mike had a lot of pride in whatever he did. He enjoyed working in his yard, golfing, camping and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. Mike had a big heart and would help anyone in need. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Oh Marilyn I can't imagine your shock!!
I have decades of memories of Mike entertaining my aunt/ uncle after cutting grass. He was the MOST entertaining city worker I ever knew. It was almost fun to look for him when I saw street dept. ahead to look for Mike & what crazy stuff we could yell to each other. Have some great audio tape of him playing horseshoes in the dark with Dick Buenger. Hope to see u Sat.

Very sad news about an old Crawford St. friend from the 60s-70s. Mike was part of the huge gang of kids who lived and loved life back then playing every sport of every season we knew and was just a warm hearted, fun guy who was loved by many.

Rest easy old friend.....
