OBITUARY
Michael Louis Schuetz of St. Clair, MO departed this life at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on Friday, January 9, 2026, having reached the age of seventy-one years, five months and nineteen days. Michael was born in Overland, MO on July 21, 1954, son of Rudolph Earnst Schuetz and Catherine Louise Schuetz nee Abbott. On July 12, 1975 he was united in marriage to Debra Lynn Stulce and two children came to bless this union.
Michael is survived by his wife, Debra Schuetz of St. Clair, MO; by his children, Angela Newton and husband, William, of St. Clair, MO and Joe Schuetz and wife, Lacey, of St. Clair, MO; by his brother, Theodore “Ted” Schuetz and significant other, Gloria Murphy, of Hannibal, MO; by his sisters, Terry O’Hara of Barnhart, MO and Linda King of St. Clair, MO; by three grandchildren, Ally Newton, Kyler Newton and Khole Schuetz; by his step-grandchildren, Jayden Landreth, Kierra Buckley and Zane Buckley; by brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Catherine Schuetz; and by one grandchild, Taylor Newton.
Michael was a Christian, believing in the Lord as his Savior. He was proud to have served his country in the United States Army, entering on July 16, 1975 and receiving his honorable discharge on July 13, 1979. During his working career he was employed by Esselte Corporation, formerly Esselte Pendaflex and Topps, as a product manager, retiring after thirty-seven years of service to the company. He enjoyed working in the yard, gardening, raising vegetables and mostly flowers. He was always busy doing something, whether collecting stamps or doing carpentry projects. What meant most to him was time spent with family. The love they shared and many precious memories they created together will forever be cherished by them all.
A kind and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with Pastor Charles Keith officiating. Inurnment, with full military honors, will take place at Crestview Memorial Park Eagle Columbarium. Memorials may be made to Celebrate Recovery c/o Bethel Baptist Church.
