Michael "Mike" Sheehy passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his children, after an eight-month battle with cancer. Mike was born on May 26, 1943, to the late Robert Sheehy and Lila Blakeslee of Appleton. He was a graduate of Appleton High School, class of 1961. Mike loved working; his favorite job was at Sentry Foods, where he spent 17 wonderfully hilarious years with some of his greatest lifelong friends. After Sentry Foods, he took a leap and started his own vending company through Toy n' Joy, Mike's Vending Company. Over a million miles driven throughout Wisconsin and Upper Michigan, filling his bright red toy machines, he showed us just how much joy one quarter could bring.
Mike was an avid golfer and cribbage player. Many of his fondest memories with friends and family took place on the course or around the cribbage board. He cherished time with family and friends, and his quick, sarcastic humor left everyone in stitches. But his greatest joy in life was his children and grandchildren. Mike was a devoted servant of the Lord, drawing strength from his faith to navigate the toughest days as he battled his illness.
Michael is survived by his children: Robert Sheehy, Todd (Pam Blackledge) Sheehy, Stacey (Doug) Vandenberg, Brittany (Brad) Storms, and Lindsey Sheehy; grandsons: Asa (Hope) Sheehy, Tyler (Mariah) Sheehy, Nathan (Katie) Vandenberg, Benjamin (LeeAnna) Vandenberg, Jonah Vandenberg, Jackson Sheehy, and Hudson Storms; and great-grandchildren: Ezra, Munro, Lexington, Lilly, Olden, Keylee and Meyah. He is further survived by his nephews: Scott (Julie) Sheehy, Kevin (Lisa) Sheehy, and Ryan (Preetha) Blakeslee. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Patrick Sheehy and Jerry Blakeslee.
A memorial service for Mike will be held at Appleton Highland Memorial Park at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, 2025. Visitation will be held from 12-1 p.m. In keeping with Mike's generous spirit and in lieu of flowers, Mike requests that you make a donation to a children's charity of your choosing.
