Mike made his journey to his heavenly family on New Years Day, 2025. He fought a very heroic and brave battle against his disease.
He was born in Findlay, Ohio to Edwin and Charlotte Skidmore. He lived life like he was born - feisty and lively. Mike grew up in Dunkirk, Ohio and attended Hardin Northern High School and then THE Ohio State University, majoring in partying - oops Environmental Science.
The vast majority of his work career was at Clean Harbors Environmental located in Cleveland, Ohio. He greatly enjoyed the lifelong friendships he made and said the Cleveland branch was his work family. His work family were instrumental in keeping his spirts up on not-so-good days. One day the mailbox was FULL of cards from his co-workers!
Mike is survived by his mother, Charlotte Skidmore; his sister, Lisa Skidmore (Larry Mathes); his aunts, Judy (Jim) Worstein-Dieter and Rita Skidmore; his cousins, Daniel Worstein, Camden and Karissa Worstein, Adam Shope, Trevor and Taegan Shope, Krista (Jason) Gibson and Gabe Gibson, Eric (Cynthia) Wills, Doug (Michelle) Wills, Bobby (Scott) Gill; and many devoted friends in the Cleveland area. He was affectionately known as 'Uncle Skidz' to many.
Preceding Mike to heaven were his cherished father, Edwin Skidmore; his beloved grandparents, James Kenneth and Martha Skidmore, and Paul and Burneda Worstein; his uncles, Clifford Skidmore and David Worstein; and his cousin, Cindy Worstein Shope.
Mike loved sports and had a deep loyalty to OSU football and the Cleveland Browns. Yearly, he attended OSU games, home and away. Mike was a season ticket holder for the Browns and Cleveland Cavaliers. One of his most cherished memories was watching the Cavs win the NBA Championship Title in 2016 with his father, on Father's Day.
He attended sports memorabilia shows with his dad and good friends, collecting pictures, cards, and autographs. Mike loved all kinds of music and enjoyed numerous concerts over his lifetime.
He was a reluctant "uncle" to his sister's multiple cats. His favorites being Jasper and Jasmine.
Mike asked there be no tears at his Celebration of Life and for happy, fun, silly memories to be shared. He also requested no flowers from his family and friends - if you would like, a donation, in Mike's honor, can be made to Lyndhurst based foster group, Viva Los Gatos or The Cleveland Animal Protective League
Mike and family would like to thank The Cleveland Clinic for their dedication, support, and care he received during his illness.
The family will receive friends Friday, Jan. 10, 2025 at The Abbey of Willoughby, (on the ground of McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home), 38011 Euclid Ave., Willoughby, from 4:00 - 7:00 PM. All are invited to join Mike's Celebration of Life Ceremony at 6:30 PM. Since he didn't enjoy wearing "stuffy" dress clothes, please wear your favorite sporting outfit. However, Xichigan clothing is not cool.

We are thinking of your family during this time. We didn't really know Michael but are neighbors to his mother and knew his dad, grandpa and grandma Worstein. Enjoy sharing those memories and funny stories.

We are so sorry about the loss of Mike. I knew him as Uncle Shrimps and enjoyed our virtual connection over the years. He will be sorely missed.
