Michael V. Skidmore, age 82, of Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, January 11, 2026, in his wife's arms.
Michael was born on December 21, 1943, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to Anna Hale and Walter Skidmore. He was raised in and around Vandalia, Ohio, and later spent many years living in Colorado Springs, Colorado, before retiring to Punta Gorda, Florida.
On October 15, 1966, Michael married Lucy P. Skidmore in Vandalia, Ohio. Lucy was the love of his life, and they shared many years together, building a life shaped by hard work, independence, and shared interests.
Michael began his career in real estate and later worked as a car wholesaler in Colorado, where he especially enjoyed negotiating and haggling a good deal. He had a lifelong interest in automobiles and motorcycles and enjoyed road trips by motorcycle and RV.
Earlier in life, Michael stayed active and enjoyed golf, tennis, racquetball, and skiing. He particularly liked trips to Aspen and often joked about getting John Denver's autograph.
After moving to Colorado, Michael embraced motorcycling both on-road and off-road. He was a member of the Gold Wing Club and later transitioned to riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles, especially enjoying rides through the Colorado mountain passes, often a little faster than necessary.
Michael loved dogs and especially enjoyed spending time with his daughter's dog, Daisy, whom he would occasionally "borrow" for visits.
Michael is survived by his wife, Lucy Skidmore; his daughter, Renee Danczuk (Scott Danczuk); and his sisters, Gail Besecker and Jacque Wickens.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna Hale and Walter Skidmore; his stepfather, Jim Hale; and his grandmother, Adaline Young.
At Michael's request, there will be no services. The family appreciates the condolences and warm wishes and encourages those who knew him to remember him in their own way.
