Michael J. "Mike" Slaght

Michael J. Slaght, age 70, of Cheyenne, WY, and formerly of Dubuque, IA, was called home peacefully on Sunday, October 9, 2016, with his loving wife of 47 years by his side. To honor Mike's life, private services and committal rites will take place in Wyoming. Michael was born on April 12, 1946, in Dubuque, son of Maynard R. and Anne B. (Rowan) Slaght. Mike spent his formative years in Dubuque before he would go on to honorably serve in the military, and with the state of Wyoming. He was blessed with many positive character traits to share with those around him along his earthly journey. Kind, caring, generous and humble are only a few of the words which accurately describe this highly accomplished gentleman. We will surely miss Mike until we are all reunited again; but we find comfort in knowing that he will continually remain present within both our hearts and minds. Those left to cherish Mike's memory include his wife, Carolyn J. (Kirk) Slaght, Cheyenne, WY; and his 5 siblings, Luanne (Richard) Davis, Rockford, IL, Steve (Kathy) Slaght, William (Lisa) Slaght, Laura Leick and Andrea (James) Yeager, all of Dubuque, IA. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Daniel Slaght. Memorial in Mike's name may be made to St. Jude's or Shriner's Children's Hospitals.
