Ocean Springs, Mississippi - Michael L. "Mike" Smith, age 81 of Ocean Springs passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 surrounded by his family. Mike was born in Fort Morgan, CO and resided in Ocean Springs since 1972.
Mike worked at Ingalls Shipbuilding from 1972 to 2012 retiring as a Master Shipbuilder.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Virginia Smith. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Beverly, of Ocean Springs; his three children Darin (Mary) of Hattiesburg, son Dana (Laura) and daughter Denise, of Ocean Springs; his grandchildren, Catherine, Conner, Austin (Kim), and great grandchildren Dawson and Scarlett. He is also survived by his brother, Ron Smith of Napa, CA and sister, Donna Smith Catalani (Albert) and nephews Anthony Catalani and Dominic Catalani of Morgan Hill, CA.
The family wants to express their heartfelt gratitude to the many nurses and doctors who cared for Mike over the past two years.
A family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to The Lord is My Help in Ocean Springs.
