Michael D. Smith

Michael Dewayne Smith, age 55, passed away peacefully at his residence on December 20, 2025. He was born May 24, 1970, in Pascagoula, Mississippi, and was the son of Eddie Putmon Jr. and Voncile Smith.

Michael graduated from Moss Point High School in 1988 and later earned an Associate's degree in Applied Sciences in Surgical Technology at MGCCC. He spent over 25 years working as a surgical technologist in area clinics; his last employer was Bienville Orthopedics in Vancleave, Mississippi.

In his free time, Michael enjoyed fishing, cooking, and relaxing by his swimming pool. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Putmon Jr.; his grandfather, Rev. Eddie Putman Sr.; his grandmother, Wesson Putmon; his grandfather, Stonewall Smith Sr.; and his grandmother, Lucille Smith.

Michael is survived by his wife, Katrice Autmon-Smith of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; His Pride and Joy-his daughters: McKenzi Smith-Autmon and Madisyn Smith-Autmon both of Ocean Springs, MS, his loving and devoted mother Voncile Smith, Moss Point, MS; 2 sisters: Kimberly Lee, Ocean Springs and Crystal Rawls, McKinney, TX; Brother-in law Derrick P. Autmon, Hattiesburg, MS; Father-in-Law Rikkie Autmon and Mother-in-Law Patricia Autmon, Ocean Springs, MS. Nieces: Brandi Lee, Chesapeake, VA, Erin Lee and Journey Holloman both of Ocean Springs, MS. His nephews: Jordan and Jacob Rawls, both of McKinney, TX. A
