With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Michael Jackson Smith on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at the age of 66.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 PM Saturday, January 10, 2026 at the Mueller Funeral Home, Peru with Pastor Chico Perez of Abundant Life Fellowship, LaSalle officiating. Burial will be held in Roselawn Memorial Park, Springfield at a later date. Visitation will be held 4-6:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
Michael was a man of quiet strength, known for his love of music, fishing, his passion for sports, and the love he had for his three children.
Michael was born November 19, 1959. He was adopted at the young age of three along with his sister, Dawn at the age of five. Michael cherished his family and friends. He was always the joker of the crowd. He will truly be missed by many.
Survivors include his son, Nicholas (Melissa) Smith of Oglesby; his daughters, Brittany Smith of Mesa, AZ and Gina Smith of Peru; his granddaughter, Ivy Smith; his grandsons, Landyn and Jordyn Gerace; a great-grandson, Emelio Smith; and two nieces, Corinne Washburne and Mandy Heng.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents; Arthur and Elsie (Harbert) Smith; his sister, Dawn Kohn; and a nephew, Richard Koontz.
