My darling Husband, Michael, went to be with the Angels on January 15, 2024, after a long battle with Cancer.
Michael was born in
Washington, DC in 1952 and grew up in the Northern Virginia area, went to work for the Washington Gas Company, and spent 37 years working his way up to Construction Supervisor before his retirement in 2012. He enjoyed retirement and working in the garden, which he wanted to share his bounty with everyone.
Michael was a generous, caring, giving personable man that never thought of himself... he was always willing to help anyone that he could. He never met anyone he didn't like or get a business card from, and always had a story to tell.
He was an Golfer (shoot for the 150 mark, then go from there), gardener (tomatoes, garlic), and an avid music enthusiast.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Janet Weintjes (Charlie), his mother Isabell and his father Bob. He leaves behind his wife, Joanna, his sister Anita Link (John), 3 step children (Charlie, Andrea, and Christina), 6 grandchildren, and many nieces and cousins that he thought the world of and spent many happy times with over the years.
There will be a Gathering to honor Michael from 11:00 A.M-12:30 P.M. on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Johnson Funeral Home in
Locust Grove, VA. Family and friends may stop by the house after the service for coffee and refreshments.
