Michael Squires Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McCulla Funeral Home on Oct. 1, 2025.
Michael L Squires, born on May 20,1962 passed away of natural causes on Feb. 19, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his parents William "Bill" and Virginia Squires and one brother.
Mike was a resident of Monongalia County for the majority of his life.
After graduation from Morgantown High School class of 1980, he served in the U.S. Army for a number of years. Mike held various jobs over the years, the last of which was at the I-79 south Welcome Center in Mon county.
Mike was a long-time member of Mount Calvary A/G in Westover, and a key volunteer for the Storehouse of God located on Bertha Hill.
Mike was also preceded in death by his closest friend, Alex Birurakis, who had experienced some mobility challenges in his later years. It was then that Mike moved into his home with him to become his primary caregiver. Although Mike was much younger and healthier than Alex, it was still a coin toss as to who was the actual caretaker of whom. The only way to describe these two were in Mike's words himself "Alex was my best friend!" Their friendship lasted for many years until Mr. Birurakis' passing in 2020.
A time of visitation will be held at McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Westover, on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 from 5-7pm. A memorial service will be held at McCulla Funeral Home at 7 pm with Pastor Johnny Whitehair officiating.
Please, no need to send flowers. Just use that money to show love and compassion with those you love and/or someone less fortunate. Because once we get that dreaded phone call, it's too late.
