Michael "Spanky" Stanton

Michael James "Spanky" Stanton, age 59, of Litchfield passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He was born on July 23, 1966, in Coldwater, the son of Fredrick and Mary (McClain) Stanton.

Spanky graduated from Litchfield High School in 1985. He went on to earn his associate's degree from Jackson Community College. Throughout his life, he employed at several local businesses including Raker's Acres, SKD and later Martinrea in Jonesville, Yukon in Litchfield, Ossur in Albion and most recently at Wal-Mart in Jonesville. Spanky enjoyed watching NASCAR, his favorite driver being Jeff Gordon. Most of all, he loved spending time with his daughter and his grandson, Ryver.

Survivors include his parents, Fredrick and Mary Stanton; daughter, Jessica (Bryant) Ellis of Litchfield; grandchild, Ryver Ellis; sisters, Lori (Shuji) Sato and Teresa Malikowski; brother, Kristopher Stanton; and nieces and nephews, Emily (Jonathan) McAdams, Erica (Taylor) Schofield, Ren Sato, Joshua (Paige) Malikowski, Kelsey (Cameron Bryant) Malikowski, and Jenna, Derek and Carissa Stanton.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elmer and Leila McClain and Robert and Sophia Stanton.

Funeral services for Michael Stanton will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Litchfield with Deacon John Crowley officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Litchfield. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday from 4-8 PM at the funeral home.
