Michael Taglietta died unexpectedly on July 13, 2025, at his residence. He was only 76 years old, having been born on June 5, 1949. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death.
He was born in Hoboken, New Jersey and spent his first 7 years living in Weehawken, New Jersey. When his father retired, his parents moved the family to Molfetta, Italy. He spent most of his childhood in Italy. When he was 18 years old, he moved back to the US. Shortly thereafter, he met the love of his life, Jane, where they worked at Two Guys retail store. Mike was working in security, and Jane was in the shoe department. Mike was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War. He spent 2 years (1972-1974) serving in the 1st Calvary Division and stationed in Fort Hood, Texas. He was extremely proud to be a veteran.
He settled down in Morganville, New Jersey to start a family. Some of his greatest joys came from his 2 sons. They created many memories while enjoying trips as a family. In 1993, he took his family on a 6-week cross country vacation where they visited 18 National Parks on this one trip. He had a love of travelling and sightseeing, from Niagara Falls, Alaska, Panama Canal, Nova Scotia, Germany, Austria, Italy, to a number of cruises. He was very proud to visit 49 states. Hawaii was the next stop on his bucket list.
Mike was an avid motorcyclist. Over his lifetime, he owned several motorcycles and rode over half a million miles. His love of motorcycling shows in over 50 trips alone to West Virginia to ride the mountain roads. He loved his "toys" and added a Corvette to the mix where he was a member of the Corvette Club of Naples. He took pride in maintaining his cars and motorcycles. Most weekends when not on his motorcycle, he could be found in his garage doing oil changes, tire rotations, and changing brake pads just to name a few with his sons holding the flashlight.
He worked for the Port Authority Trans Hudson (PATH) for 34 years and counted down the days until retiring in 2006. Once Mike and his loving wife Jane both retired, they bought a home in Naples, Florida where they became snowbirds. He loved Florida and being on the Gulf Coast where the weather was perfect for him.
Mike is survived and missed by his loving wife Jane (née Miceli) of 50 years; and his children, Michael Taglietta and his partner Melanie Burak; David and his wife Melissa Taglietta. Forever cherished and remembered by his two granddaughters, Olivia and Ava Taglietta and his two step grandsons, Benjamin, and Alexander Burak; his loving sister Antonia Pisani and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and close friends.
Mike was predeceased by his parents Cosmo and Grazia Taglietta, in-laws Joseph and Dolly Miceli, daughter-in-law Stephanie Taglietta, and brother-in-law Girolamo Pisani.
Funeral services will be held at Waitt Funeral Home, 501 State Route 79, Morganville, New Jersey 07751 on Thursday, July 17th from 4-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 18th at 9:30 AM at Saint Clement Roman Catholic Church, 172 Freneau Avenue, Matawan, New Jersey 07747. Mike will be laid to rest at St. Gabriel's Cemetery, 549 Route 520 Newman Springs Road, Marlboro, New Jersey 07746.

Dear Jane and family,
Bob and I are very sad to hear of Mike's passing. We enjoyed your friendship especially the trip to Mardi Gras last year with Corvette's of Naples. Heartfelt sympathies.
