Michael John Taittonen

Michael John Taittonen, age 69, longtime resident of Hibbing and formerly of Angora, Minnesota, died Thursday January 1, 2026 in his home from natural causes. He was born on May 18, 1956, to Waino and Signe Taittonen in Virginia, Minnesota.

Michael served as a firefighter and first responder for the Evergreen Volunteer Fire department and was retired from Cleveland Cliffs-Hibbing Taconite Company. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Michael's true passion was spending time with his family.

Michael is survived by his wife: Mary; Children: Jessica Taittonen of Minneapolis, Jeremy Taittonen of Hibbing, Jamie Taittonen of St. Paul, Krystal Drift of Hibbing, Kamile Ball of Chisholm and Presley Taittonen of Aurora; Sister: Elaine Arola of Britt; 13 Grandchildren; 2 Great-Granddaughters and numerous extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Siblings: Lillian Maki and Wayne Taittonen.

Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until the 2:00 P.M. Celebration of Life Thursday January 15, 2026, at the Bauman-Cron Funeral Home in Virginia.
