Age 77, passed away August 2, 2023. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Monday, August 7, 2023 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 E. Bristol Rd., Burton. Fr. Bob McGraw celebrant. Burial will follow in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-7 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd, Swartz Creek. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. Michael was born December 24, 1945 in Greenville, MI, the son of Kenneth and Vonnie (Wilcox) Thomas. He was a graduate of Greenville High School and went on to attend Michigan State in the Criminal Justice and Agriculture Programs. He was a police officer for the City of Flint, retiring after 20 years of service. In his youth he was a member of the 4-H Club and FFA, which led him to a lifelong passion for farming. He loved the outdoors and was a Master Gardener. He was also a member of woodworking, stone and gem and tractor clubs. He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Paul Thomas (Shayne Clapper), Sarah Thomas, Julie Gilmour and John (Andrea) Thomas; grandchildren, Nicholas Genovesi, Benjamin Gilmour, Allie Thomas, Ruby Gilmour, Jylian (Nick) Juip and Clay Reinfelder; sister, Kathleen Holt; nephews, Kevin (Laurie) Lambing and Matthew (Sherri) Holt; niece, Holly (Bob) Huestis. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Robert and granddaughter, Grace Gilmour.
