Michael P. Wallace Sr., 55, of Ticonderoga NY, passed away on December 25, 2022, at Plattsburgh Hospital, after battling kidney failure complications.
Mike was born on March 18, 1967 in Ticonderoga, to Gordon "Sonny" Wallace Sr., and the late Rosemary Wallace (Harris).
The youngest of five siblings, he was predeceased by his brother Gordon "Sonny Jr." Wallace, and is survived by his brother, Tim (Charmain) Wallace, and his sisters, Debra (Jim) Bevins and Brenda (Bob) Marshall, along with many nieces and nephews, including Jeff Wallace, who was, without question, more like a son to him.
He married his wife, Theresa "Terry" Wallace (Michalak), on January 23, 1988. In those "34 years of bliss," as he would say, they welcomed their children, Kaleigh Wallace and her partner Scott Hebert, and Michael P. Wallace Jr. and his wife Ashley Wallace, as well as seven grandchildren. He is also survived by his in-laws, John and Alice Michalak and family.
His family was his proudest accomplishment, but certainly not his only one. Mike spent many years as a volunteer for Ti Fire Department, and was a true local, with several years of employment at International Paper, as well as the Essex County Sheriffs Dept. and most recently with the Ticonderoga Central School District, where, thanks to his grandkids, he was known by the students as just "Grumps."
Second to spending time with his wife and children, he enjoyed being outdoors. Hunting and fishing were his favorite seasons, but all year long you could find him standing by a campfire, or mowing the lawn to a level of perfection that will never be matched.
Mike left his mark on this world with his never-ending generosity, quick wit, and long list of "Dad jokes."
All are welcome to celebrate his life on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at the EMA in Ticonderoga at 1:00 p.m.
