Michael Werdann

Longtime Highlands resident, Michael Werdann passed away on March 19. He was 58 years old.
Mike grew up in Highlands, where he attended Henry Hudson High School. He worked as a Volkswagen mechanic for many years in Shrewsbury and was very well known within the boating community for providing diving services. Mike was loved by many and would always run into someone he knew no matter where he was.
He loved being out on the water and kept his boat at Bahrs for many years. Boaters remember him for his famous "Island Parties" that he would host every summer out near Sandy Hook, trips to Block Island, headed up the Hudson river in the fall, or summer days anchored and tied up in the Cove for hours.
He was a loyal Met and Vikings fan regardless of their season record and could be found watching the games frequently at his favorite local spot Off the Hook. Mike always made everyone feel welcome, never judged anyone, and treated friends as family. He was a devoted father and his children were his biggest achievement.
Mike is survived by: his son, Justin O'Neill; daughter, Brooke Werdann; his granddaughter Edie Rose O'Neill; his (7) siblings - Sheri Frazier, Kathy Braserol, John Werdann, Jim Werdann, Susanne Goodan, Wendy Hallowell, Eddie Werdann.
A memorial service will be held at John F. Pfleger funeral home in Middletown on Sunday, March 24, from 2 to 4 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Stroke Foundation.
