Michael Williams Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Congleton Funeral Home and Cremations - Greenville on Dec. 28, 2025.
Michael George Williams was born on September 29, 1977 in Martin County to Ernest and Josephine Paige Williams. He departed this earthly life on December 22, 2025 in Tillery, NC.

Michael was known as Mike, Spike, Michael George, Grits Grocery and Frog Belly. Whichever name you called him, he would reply back with a very comical response.

Mike grew up in Edgecombe, Martin and Pitt counties. He attended Edgecombe County Schools and later returned to Pitt County Schools. Mike worked various jobs which included cooking, cutting grass and various industries in the area. His most recent job was at Penco in Hamilton, NC where he developed a special relationship in the welding department.

Mike had a love for his family, friends, entertaining and the Washington Commanders. Wherever Mike was there would always be lots of laughter, jokes, food and partying. His love for cooking would always gather many families and friends. Mike would always be the center of attention telling his famous jokes…which required you to have some tough skin. Mike was a community icon and will truly be missed by those who loved him.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Williams; his sister, Pamela Massenburg.

Mike leaves to cherish his memories his devoted mother, Josephine Williams of the home; one daughter, Catrina Staton of Greenville, NC; three grandchildren, Jahcere, Jassani and Nysir all of Greenville, NC, two sisters, Melinda Cherry of Greenville, NC, Danyell Paige of the home; four brothers, James Massenburg (Juanita) of Atlanta, GA, Ernest Paige of Greenville, NC, Ernest Williams (LaTonya) of Bethel, NC, Kelly Williams (Connie) of Greenville, NC; special friend, Connie Hudgins of twenty-one years; one aunt, Shirley Moore of Pollockville, NC; three uncles, Earl Paige of Blackjack, NC, Kress Paige of Bethel, NC, William E. Williams of Waldorf, MD; a host of special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; lifelong friends, Dallas Staton, Gerald Carney, Latavis Wiggins and Curtis Howard, Jr.
