Michael Wooden, age 74 of Lanesboro, IA, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at his home. Michael James was born on April 27, 1950, to parents Earl and Willa (Johnson) Wooden. He grew up in Missouri and then later moved to Minnesota where he attended school at Sunny Set Elementary and graduated from Rosemount High School. On March 10, 1970, Michael enlisted to serve his country in the United States Army. He served during the Vietnam War earning the rank of SP4 (E-4) and received a National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and a Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon. Michael was honorably discharged on October 14, 1971.
In Water Town, SD, Michael was united in marriage to Sandra Kay. This union was blessed with two children: Matthew and Michael. Throughout his life, Michael worked as a construction worker, a business owner, and a truck driver. He was passionate about being in his AA program and sponsored many people throughout his journey. Michael also enjoyed going hunting, fishing, and working in his yard. He always kept a very neat and tidy property.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Matthew J. Wooden (Rachel Novak) and Michael T. Wooden; grandchildren: Tyler, Steven, Alex, and Zach; siblings: Roxanne (Tom) Kadrlik and Cinthia (Greg) Ulrich; several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his wife Sandra Wooden; parents Earl and Willa Wooden; and siblings Bilie Brick and Patrick Wooden.
A Memorial Service is Scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the United Methodist Church in Lanesboro, IA.
