Michael Dale Wright

Michael Dale Wright, 76, of Seymour, passed away at 4:58 p.m. on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour. He was born July 18, 1948, in Seymour, the son of Wilson Myers & Ferne Louise (Fitch) Wright. He was raised in Seymour and had lived in California and Columbus, before moving to the Westport area in 1975. Mike was an electrician for Knauf Fiberglass for 20 years. After retirement he ran his own HVAC business. He was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Hartsville where he served as a trustee and attended Calvary Baptist Church in Seymour. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, loved bowling and going on vacation and spending time with family. He was a veteran having served with the U.S. Marines. He married Mary Elizabeth Hammond in Westport on January 11, 1975. She survives, along with his daughters, Pamela Ferne (George) Coffin of Seymour, Sherri Lynn (Butch) Lipperd of St. Paul, Julie Ann (Randy) Franklin of New Albany and Mary Michelle (Andy) Hobbs of Westport; his sister, Sherry Ann Amy of California; his sons, David Wayne (Mary) Wright of Arlington and Benny Edward (Pamela) Wright of Paris Crossing; his 24 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Michael Dale Wright II; his sisters, Susan Kay Wright, Sandy Ruane and Connie Jo Redford; his grandsons, Osiris David Wright and Brandon Michael Sturdivant and a great grandson, Maxton Parris. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 24, 2025 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home with Pastor Dan DeFriece officiating. Burial will follow at the Westport Cemetery. A time of visitation will be on Thursday, January 23 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Wounded Warriors Project.
