Michael Wrightson, 79, of Hagerstown, Maryland went into the arms of the Lord at Meritus Medical Center on March 15th, 2023. He was the beloved husband of 53 years to Linda Wrightson.
Born February 29th, 1944, he was the son of the late Mary Louise Vaeth. Michael was proud to serve in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from Aug 1963 to Aug of 1967 where he was assigned to the USS Randolph (CV-15) Aircraft Carrier. He obtained the rank of E4 SFM3. Michael spent most of his civilian working years in construction engineering. He worked for The Robert B. Balter Company for 32 years, World Kitchens, Parsons Brinkerhoff, followed by Rummel, Klepper, & Kahl where he retired and Washington County Public School Food and Nutrition Services, when he finally hung up his working shoes. He was a member of the American Legion Post #202 in Williamsport, Maryland where he celebrated 49 years of commitment, and as a Maryland Foster Parent, lovingly giving 25 years of his life and in those years, he adopted two beautiful daughters. He was also an avid bowler.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his daughters; Debbie (and partner Dave Ricker) and Jenny Wrightson, Kristy Cuba (and husband Nathan) all of Hagerstown.
He is also survived by his grandsons; Gavin and Bryson Wrightson (Hagerstown); Michael’s brother; Vaughn and wife Lois (Bel Air, MD), Jack (Hagerstown); sister-in-law, Pat-Pat and husband Will Jones (Baltimore, MD); brother-in-law, Earl Eppard (Falling Waters, WV); sister-in-law Chris Fittro (Catonsville, MD) and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his son, Charlie Michael Wrightson; grandchild, Baby Higginbotham; sister, Debbie Gollery; brother, Charles Wrightson; father and mother-in-law, Bob and Sue Fittro and sister and brother-in-law Gwenie Eppard and Dave Fittro.
Friends and family will be received from 1-2pm on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21701. A funeral service will be held with military honors, performed by the Joint Veterans Council of Washington County and the Marine Corps League of Washington County, at 2pm in the chapel of the funeral home.
