Michaela PUTHON Obituary

MICHAELA EDITH PUTHON The family of Michaela Edith Puthon (Micki) is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Micki on September 20, 2023, in Fort Myers, Florida. Micki was born in Bad Gastein, Austria in 1948 - she was the first of three children for Rudolf and Tamara Puthon (née Gutzmann). Following their migration from Europe to Canada, the family grew to include 2 more children - sister, Keri (Puthon) Lucas and brother, Andy Puthon. Micki's post-secondary education was in visual arts. During the photographic stage of her career, her commercial photography work included creating album cover photos for Canadian recording musicians such as the band Lighthouse, and singer/vocalist Beverly Glenn- Copeland. Some of her creative photographic images are in Canada's National Gallery (Ottawa, Ontario). In the early 1970s, Micki and her husband, Bruce Robertson, leveraged their creative talents and they began to purchase and renovate run-down historical properties in Toronto, renewing them into contemporary architectural single family homes. A growing passion for restoration and renovation led to their discovery of the town of Port Hope, Ontario. They relocated to Port Hope and soon after celebrated the arrival of their son, Alexander (Alex) Puthon Robertson, born in 1977. Shortly thereafter, Micki and family discovered Sanibel Island, Florida where they purchased a seasonal home, and thus began Micki's next migration to Southwest Florida soon became a permanent home. Micki thrived in the warmth and sunshine of Southwest Florida. She pursued her life- long interests of the arts, including design, architecture, music, animal welfare and activities such as tennis, golf and fitness. It is there that Micki met and married her new life partner and devoted husband, Samuel (Sammy) Nixon. Together, they built a life rich with shared interests and together they savoured many unique experiences with family and friends, including travel. Micki's life ended on September 20, 2023. She led a life very well lived. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. No service will be held, a private family celebration of life in Micki's honour will occur at a later date.
