Michell E. "Missy" Slonaker

Michell "Missy" Elaine Slonaker, 57, formerly of Romney, WV, passed away surrounded by loved ones at the Winchester Medical Center on December 7, 2025.
Missy was born on May 4, 1968, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of Martha Harris of Romney, WV, and the late George Slonaker Sr. Missy had a love for the outdoors and found her greatest joy in nature. She especially cherished camping trips and spending time at the river. Known for her knowledge of plants, mushrooms, and bugs, she delighted in sharing that passion with others. Especially the children in her life, teaching them to appreciate the beauty around them. She was also known for her deep commitment to her pets and her enthusiasm in collecting heart-shaped rocks, a simple pastime that reflected her gentle spirit and ability to find joy in small things.
Surviving are her husband, Jeff Hampshire; two children, Michell Kees and husband Thomas of Frederick, MD, and Jeffrey "J.J." Hampshire and wife Sarah of Winchester, VA; and a sister, Dawn Slonaker of Winchester, VA and a brother, George Slonaker II of Augusta, WV; four grandchildren: Chloe Gallagher, Malachi Gallagher, Sharkey Hampshire, and Ruby Hampshire.
She was preceded in death by her son, Hunter Slonaker, and two sisters, Ginger Slonaker and Shirley Saville.
Family will receive friends on December 31, 2025, at Giffin Funeral Home & Crematory in Capon Bridge, WV, from 12:30 to 2:00 PM, followed by a joint Celebration of Life, from 2:00 to 2:30 PM, honoring both Missy and her sister, Shirley.
