Michelle R. Burdett, 71, of Terre Haute passed away on Monday, October 20, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 16, 1954, in Indianapolis to Truman Vibbert and Mary Staggs Vibbert. Michelle was an avid participant in pre-1840's reenactments. She and Larry also participated in Pioneer Days at Fowler Park and the Rendezvous'. Michelle loved crafting. She was a talented seamstress, making her costumes for the reenactments, crocheting, and making doll houses. Michelle also made soaps and salves. Crafting was also among her many talents. She was a skilled marksman and tomahawk thrower, competing at the reenactments. Michelle was an amazing and very independent woman. She loved being with her family and everyone called her Mama. Her presence will be missed by so many.
Michelle is survived by her beloved husband of 15 years, Larry Toppin, daughters Brandy Booker (Danny) and Jennyfer Toller (Paul), sons Derrick Burdett and Christopher Burdett (Julie), stepsons Charles Toppin (Sara) and Samuel Toppin (Amber), 16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, siblings Gayle Tyler (Sonya), Bob Tyler, Mark Vibbert (Cindy), Terry Vibbert (Wendy), and Cary Vibbert. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Cremation was entrusted to Samaritan Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at Fowler Park on Sunday, December 14, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
