Michelle Denise “Shelly” Rigdon, age 57, of Mankato, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on November 11, 2023.
Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 17, 2023 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Mankato. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at the Northview – North Mankato Mortuary and will continue on Friday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. The service will be livestreamed and available below.
Michelle Denise, the daughter of Anthony “Tony” and Jan (Hodapp) Bauer, was born on May 17, 1966 in Mankato. She graduated from Loyola Catholic School and continued on to graduate from Mankato State University, Mankato with her Bachelor of Science in Education in 1988. Shelly married Rick Rigdon on June 16, 1990 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church by Father Schlemmer. She taught Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and 2nd Grade at Waterville-Elysian-Morristown (WEM) School for 5 years. She then worked at the Mankato Anesthesia Group for 25 years and J.C. Penny’s Salon as a receptionist for the last 5 years. Shelly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and various outdoor activities such as gardening, exercising, hiking, and helping others feel beautiful in their skin as a Rodan & Fields consultant. She was also a dedicated dance mom for 16 years and loved watching her two girls dance competitively.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Rick Rigdon; daughters, Kiersten (Isaiah) Armendariz and Bethany (Garret) Banwart; mother, Jan Bauer; siblings, Keith Bauer, Debbie Bauer, and Sue (Jerry) Westman; beloved British Lab, Luna; mother in law, Joann Rigdon; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandchild, Baby Armendariz; sister, Lynn Marie Bauer; father, Tony Bauer; and father in law, Bill Rigdon.
