Services to celebrate the life of Michelle Carleen Sims, 43, of Ohatchee, will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Michael McKinley officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Michelle will be laid to rest immediately following services in Pine Grove Cemetery.
Michelle died on Saturday, September 27, 2025.
Those preceding Michelle in death include her father, Kenny McKinley; her grandparents, Kenneth and Evelynn Wilson and Steward and Carol McKinley; her fiancé, Steve Hogue; aunt and uncle, Brenda and Ian Taylor; and uncle, Leland Wilson.
Left to cherish the memory of Michelle include her son, Devin Highfill (Sara Saxman); her mother, Sylvia McKinley; two brothers, Ronald McKinley and Travis McKinley (Brandy Brown); aunt, Shawna Wilson; uncles, Kenneth Wilson and Danny Sims; and a host of extended family and friends.
Michelle graduated from Southside High School, Class of '00. She was a lovely woman and amazing person to be around. Michelle had a passion for helping others and loved to do all she could for them. In her spare time, Michelle enjoyed being outdoors and canoeing and she was very talented with crafts. Michelle especially loved traveling with her mother to Wetumpka, on the weekends, to spend time with her son. Michelle will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Pallbearers will be Devin Highfill, Travis McKinley, Ronald McKinley, Woody Staggs, and Nick Denney. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Michelle, please visit our Tree Store.
