Michelle Voorhees Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 2, 2025.
Laura Michelle Voorhees, 76, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2025, in Prescott, Arizona. Born in California, Michelle grew up in Los Angeles before eventually making her home in Flagstaff, Arizona, where she raised her family. In retirement, she and her husband settled in Lake Havasu City, enjoying the warm sun and a slower pace of life together.

Michelle was married to the love of her life, Coerte Voorhees, for 54 wonderful years before his passing. They built a life grounded in devotion, laughter, and adventure. She is survived by her daughter Marrilee Easton and her husband Steve, her son Paul Voorhees and his better half, Laura Gonzales, and her cherished grandson Joshua Easton, who recently turned 19. Joshua was truly his grandma's pride and joy; she treasured every moment with him. Michelle also survived by her sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and extended family whom she loved dearly.

In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Michelle worked as a telephone operator for Mountain Bell. After moving to Flagstaff in 1976, she devoted herself to being a stay-at-home mother while occasionally working in accounting and bookkeeping jobs. For 25 years, she and Coerte owned their own business, and Michelle kept the books, handled the taxes, and-by her husbands playful admission-made sure Coerte didn't spend all the money. He often said, "If it wasn't for B.F., we wouldn't have anything".

Michelle was extraordinarily creative. In her younger years she sewed her own clothes, always looking effortlessly classy and beautiful. Throughout her life she oil-painted, knitted blankets, made curtains and drapes, macramé, and took up bowling-just a few of her many talents. She had a gift for creating, a gift for giving, and a gift for making every place she lived feel like home. After retiring, she and Coerte spent many joyful years traveling the country in their motorhome.

Those who knew Michelle will remember her for her warm, beautiful smile and her loving heart. She especially adored the holidays, most of all Christmas, when her home was always open to family, friends, and anyone in need. Her generosity, kindness, and spirit of giving touched countless lives.

Michelle will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who were blessed to know her.
