Mickey Glenn, a respected figure in his community, passed away on November 25, 2024 at the Hospice of the Carolina Foothills. Born on October 9, 1950, in McDowell County, he led a life characterized by his dedication to work and an unwavering commitment to family.
Mickey began his career at Drexel before later transitioning to Chadwicks, where he was known as a hard worker who took pride in every task. Beyond his professional life, he was a loving husband, father, brother, and Pop. He shared a deep bond of 56 years with his beloved wife, Joan Carol Glenn. Together, they created a family that flourished under his guidance and affection.
He is survived by his two sons, Steve Glenn, PhD, and wife Susan, and Mitch Glenn, JD, and wife Ashley. Mickey took immense pride in his grandchildren Bryson and his fiancé Maggie, along with Dawson, Wyatt, Rue and Beck, which brought great joy to his life. He also shared his love with his sister, Margaret Buckner and brother, Gerald Glenn (Sherry).
Mickey's character was defined by a unique blend of toughness and fairness, qualities that endeared him to many. He was not only a provider for his family but also an active participant in his community, coaching Little League and T-Ball, which remains one of his proudest accomplishments.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Velma Glenn, who instilled in him values that he would carry throughout his life.
Visitation will be held on November 27, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM, both taking place at Beam Funeral Service & Crematory, located at 2170 Rutherford Rd, Marion, NC, 28752. Interment will follow at the Pleasant Gardens Baptist Church Cemetery. Flowers are accepted but those wishing to make donations should consider Hospice of the Carolina Foothills 374 Hudlow Rd, Forest City, NC 28043.
Mickey Glenn will be remembered fondly for his dedication to his family and community, and his spirit will live on in the many lives he touched throughout his journey.
