Mickey LeRoy Redwine, 81, beloved son, brother, husband, father, and affectionately known as Grandpa, passed away at home on December 30, 2025 in New Braunfels, Texas. Mickey lived his life giving his whole heart to everything he did, especially to his family, whom he loved deeply.

He was born on October 28, 1944 in Richmond, California to the late Willis Brown Redwine and Mary Alice Bradshaw Redwine. He graduated in 1963 from Abilene High School and in 1967, he graduated from McMurry College also in Abilene, majoring in Business.

Mickey began his career in life insurance sales in 1967, a career that spanned 58 years. He was still actively helping others plan for their futures until he took his final breath. Mickey was a member and a two-time president of the National Association of Life Underwriters, Million Dollar Round Table (over 50 years, earning lifetime membership), National Quota Achievers, and NSAA. Mickey was awarded the highest honor with Fidelity Union Life Insurance when he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1978.

He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Abilene, Texas; involved in Boy Scouts of America, Little League Baseball, Abilene Gun Club, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, Ben Richey Boys Ranch, and Hendrick Home for Children.

Mickey is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Jacqueline (Jackie) Ann Lanier Redwine; his beloved sons, Monty LeRoy Redwine (Autumn) and Malcom Todd Redwine (Vicki Redwine, Morgan and Matthew’s mother); his sister, Helen Kelley (Stan); his grandchildren, Kacy Redwine (Chelsea), Lacy Harvey (Sean), Morgan Cole (Nate), and Matthew Redwine (Savannah); along with 7 great-grandchildren whom he adored; Patrick DeLucia, Sadie Redwine, Kyler Redwine, Kieran Harvey, Liam Harvey, Sloane Cole, and Rhett Redwine.

In addition to his parents, Mickey was preceded in death by his youngest son Mark Leslie Redwine who was taken too soon.

Mickey’s greatest joy was time spent with his family, especially when they gathered at his home in Abilene; a place filled with welcome, laughter, and tradition that lasted 40 years. Summers were marked by poolside wiffle ball games, croquet and horseshoes in the yard, burgers on the grill, margaritas with friends, and fireworks that lit up the sky.

He found his deepest happiness outdoors, particularly in the sunflower fields during dove season and on treasured pheasant hunting trips to Kansas, moments he eagerly anticipated. An avid traveler, Mickey explored dozens of countries with his beloved wife and dear friends, and created lasting family memories on many trips to Mexico. Whether hosting a party, sharing a story, or simply being present, Mickey built a life rich in adventure and togetherness, and those memories will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

And woven through all of it was Mickey’s unmistakable and ever-present humor. He was always making jokes, always finding a way to bring a smile or a laugh, simply by being himself. Even in his final days, his laughter lived on as he continued to lift the spirits of those around him, a quiet, beautiful reminder that joy was one of the greatest gifts he gave.

Visitation services will be Sunday, January 4th, from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Hamil Family Funeral Home 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, January 5th, at Elmwood Memorial Park 5750 US-277, Abilene, Texas with Kevin Kennedy, former pastor of Trinity Baptist Church Abilene, Texas officiating.
