Mihaly Szanka

Mihaly Szanka, 64, of Mahwah, New Jersey, passed away suddenly on Monday, October 27, 2025.
Mihaly was born on July 3rd, 1961 in Szeged, Hungary, to Mihaly Szanka XII and Anna Toth. He spent his early years in Hungary before moving to the United States in 2000 to begin a new chapter of his life. After settling in New Jersey, he worked in construction for about 20 years. He was known for his dedication, skill, and pride in his work, and he formed many lasting friendships through his career.
Those who knew Mihaly will always remember his warm smile, kind heart, strong work ethic, wonderful sense of humor, and the love he showed to everyone around him. He found joy in cooking, sharing meals, and spending time with family and loved ones. His laughter could fill a room, and his presence brought comfort and happiness to those who knew him.
He was devoted to his wife, Agnes Szanka, and a loving father to his daughter, Szandra Szanka, and his son, Mihaly Szanka Jr. His greatest happiness came from his family, and he will be remembered for the deep love, laughter, and care he shared with them every day. Mihaly is also survived by his sisters, Anna Balint and Maria Magony Janosné, as well as many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory. He will be deeply missed but remembered with love by all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
Family will receive visitors on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 113 South Fairview Avenue, Paramus, NJ.
