It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas (Mike) Michael Chamberlin, a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and proud Marine. Mike left us peacefully on November 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 77.
Born in 1948 in Pittsburgh, PA, Mike grew up with an unwavering sense of duty and commitment to his family and friends. After graduating in 1966, he answered the call of service by joining the United States Marine Corps, where he exhibited unparalleled bravery during the Battle of Khe Sanh, earning a Purple Heart for his sacrifice.
In 1972, Mike married the love of his life, Terri, and together they built a family filled with love and laughter, welcoming three children: Michelle, Melissa and Mike. Mike was a devoted father and a dedicated grandfather to his four cherished grandchildren, affectionately known as his "bugaroos." He instilled strong values in his family, teaching them the importance of hard work, loyalty, and love.
Following his military service, Mike moved to Washington, DC, where he embarked on a distinguished career in law enforcement. He dedicated his life to protecting others, serving on patrol, and investigating homicides before joining the DEA in New York City in 1980. In 1983, he became a Special Agent with the FBI, stationed in Detroit, where he made lasting contributions to the community until his retirement.
Even after his remarkable career in public service, Mike's commitment to serving others continued. He shared his wealth of knowledge by teaching criminal justice at NC Central University, inspiring a new generation of law enforcement professionals.
An avid lover of life, Mike enjoyed coaching baseball and softball, sharing his love for the game with countless young athletes. He was a passionate dog lover, an adventurous captain of his sailboat, a marathon runner, and a Harley-Davidson enthusiast. He also dedicated time to prison ministry and hospice, reflecting his belief in redemption and second chances, to Guardian Ad Litem, and to the Knights of Columbus and the Purple Heart Organization.
Mike leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and integrity that will continue to inspire all who knew him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Terri, his three children, Michelle (Tim), Melissa (Brian and step-grandson Mark), and Mike (Megan), and his four grandchildren, Alexis, Ava, Grace, and Cora, who will carry his memory in their hearts forever.
In place of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Catholic Charities in his memory.
