Michael Thomas "Mike" Webber, 70 of McAlester died Thursday, January 9, 2025 in Tulsa.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at North Town Church of Christ officiated by Mr. Randy Walters. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory.
Honorary pallbearers will be, Don Faunce, Jerome Edwards, Brandon Mills, Patrick Pingleton, Trenton Fender, Grady Mills, Chris Webber and Joe Fountain.
Mike was born to Woodrow Clarence and Helen Marie (Wheeler) Webber on December 10, 1954 in Michigan City, Indiana. He graduated from U.S. Grant High School in Oklahoma City in 1972. He went on to earn an associates degree from Oklahoma State University in Electronics Engineering Technology.
Mike married Rita Stokes on July 12, 1976 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Professionally, Mike excelled as a flight service specialist for the FAA at Flight Service Stations in Tucumcari, New Mexico, Oklahoma City and ultimately McAlester where he retired in May of 2007. Being a flight service specialist was a career he loved.
He played a key role in organizing and advising communications at air shows, sharing his expertise and passion for aviation. He also had a deep affection for balloon festivals.
After retirement he worked part time at Lowe's in McAlester. He was a member of Mensa and a life time member of the NRA.
Mike was a man of many passions and talents. As a proud HAM radio operator, he cherished the connections he made through the airwaves. He also had a knack for auto mechanics and electronics repair, skills he eagerly used to help family and friends. An avid reader, Mike could often be found lost in a good book, his curiosity and love for learning ever-present.
He enjoyed watching the Food Network, with favorite shows including Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives, Man vs. Food, and Carnival Eats-a testament to his love for sweets and culinary adventures. Mike's love for family was unparalleled, and he cherished the time spent with his children and grandchildren, of whom he was immensely proud. A dedicated NASCAR fan, Mike rarely missed a race.
Mike's diverse interests and unwavering love for those around him left an unforgettable mark on all who knew him.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Helen Webber.
He is survived by his wife, Rita Webber of the home; daughter, Tiffany Edwards and husband, Jerome of Wolfe City, Texas; her children, Mariah Pingleton and husband Patrick of Grand Forks, North Dakota; Trenton Fender and wife, Elisabeth of Dover, Delaware, Jayli Edwards of Gilmer, Texas; daughter, Alicia Mills and husband, Brandon of Holdenville, Oklahoma; her children, Keaton Mills, Grady Mills and Landri Mills all of Holdenville, Oklahoma; sister, Sandy Faunce and husband, Don of Griffin, Georgia; other family members and friends.
Mike will be missed but not forgotten.
