Mildred Yarbrough Beasley

Mildred Yarbrough Beasley died peacefully in Farragut, TN on May 1, 2024. She will be long remembered for her kindness, generosity, and quiet strength. She was born June 21, 1930 in Lawrence County, TN to James Oliver and Nancy Elizabeth Newton Yarbrough. She married Ermer Gray Beasley, Jr. in 1950 and they moved to Oak Ridge, TN where they lived for over sixty years. Mildred was active in bridge groups, garden clubs, Friendship Force, volunteer activities, and her church. While raising four children, she managed to achieve her lifelong dream of a college education, graduating from the University of Tennessee in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her six siblings; the love of her life, Gray; and her youngest son Billy. She is survived by her children Ben (Patty) Beasley, Beth (Mike) Zeldes and Lori (Jeff) Prosise; ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Mildred leaves behind a legacy of love of her family, annual family reunions, and her home state.
A celebration of life is planned for June 22 with visitation at 10am and service at 11:30am at First United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge, 1350 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge, TN 37830.
