Mildred Fay Wolfe Elliott, 103, passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the Laurels of Athens. Mildred was born on July 21, 1922, in Pittsburgh Hollow, Hocking County, the daughter of the late Herbert Nelson and Anna Mae (Lanning) Edgell. Mildred was the widow of the late Donald Earl Wolfe and Maynard Elliott.
Mildred was a school cook for many years at Nelsonville York High School and also worked many years at the 33 Drive-In Movie Theater. Mildred was well known for her cooking and baking, especially her raisin-filled cookies, berry cobblers, and always having a hot cup of coffee ready for any visitor. Mildred was also a longtime Eastern Star member and always involved in any school or community events.
Mildred is survived by her daughters, Anne (Craig) Steinhart, Susan (Bob) Blanke, Caroline Wolfe, and Marjorie (Doug) Dearth; daughters-in-law, Lynn Wolfe and Reta Lanning; grandchildren, Tess (Drew) Clark, Dana Wolfe, Tammy DiBacco, Michelle (Lannie Poling) Wolfe, Lisa Wolfe, Danny Wolfe Jr, Julie Anne (Jeff) Baur, Jeremy (Jessica) Steinhart, Caroline (Cesar) Pena, Doug (Chelsea) Dearth Jr, and Donson Dearth; 13 great grandchildren; and step children, Pat (Melinda) Elliott and Melinda Elliott and their families.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; sons, Donald James Wolfe and Danny Earl Wolfe; grandson, Donald James Wolfe Jr; and siblings, George, Fannie, Annie, Herbie, Evelyn, Hazel, Elmer, and Marion.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at the Souers Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St, Nelsonville, with Calvin David Edgell officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville, with her husband, Donald Wolfe. Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the nursing staff and aides at the Laurels of Athens for their loving care of Mildred.
Donations can be made in memory of Mildred to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
