Mildred Schuman "Millie" Elmer

ELMER, Mildred "Millie" Schuman, 84, of Richmond, passed away August 13, 2008. She was preceded in death by her first husband, E. "Bub" Schuman; daughter, Terri Schuman Hirsch; sister, Lillian Panich; and stepdaughter, Diane Elmer Gary. She is survived by her husband of 10½years, Milton Elmer; daughter, Shelli Schuman Dinerstein and her husband, Robert; son-in-law, Harry M. Hirsch and his wife, Lois; stepdaughter, Roz Elmer Marcus and her husband, Spence; and son-in-law, Robert Gary; grandchildren, Dara and Jon Kurtz, Dr. Ari and Meggie Hirsch, Bonni Dinerstein, Sarah Lemaster, James Lemaster, Scott and Susan Stein, Jeff and Lori Anne Stein, Kim and Charlie Hudson, and Robin Gary; nine great-grandchildren, Zoe, Avi, Theo, Jacob, Adam, Molly, Juliet, Peyton and Charlie; brother-in-law, Allan Mullian and his wife, Mimi; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Millie was a past-president of B'nai B'rith Women, a member of Temple Beth El Sisterhood, Temple Beth El Religious School secretary for over 15 years, and a member of Hadassah. She was an active teacher and player of Mahjong. Millie will be remembered for her zest for life, creativity, love of people, being a lifelong caretaker and devotion to her family. She enjoyed Broadway shows, cooking and the arts. Funeral services will be held 12 noon Friday (today) at Bliley's-Central, 3801 Augusta Ave. Interment will be held at the Richmond Beth El Cemetery at Forest Lawn. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the E. "Bub" Schuman Scholarship Fund, 5403 Monument Ave., Richmond, Va. 23226 and Temple Beth-El, 3330 Grove Ave., Richmond, Va. 23226.
