Mildred Elston Obituary
Mildred was a member of New Castle United Methodist Church as well as a treasurer & Sunday school teacher for many years. She was the former treasurer for the Henry County Retired Teachers Association; President of the Women's Red Hat Society; Henry County EMS volunteer for 25+ years and 1960 Bagdad High School Graduate. She was a 1964 EKU Graduate where she was Miss EKU of 1964.
Mildred was the daughter of the late Wesley Wallace & Mary Elizabeth (Webster) Taylor and was preceded by her husband, Ben A. Elston. She is survived by her daughter, Jenny (Elston) Stark (Chad) of New Castle; sister, Linda (Taylor) Moore (Leonard) of Sulphur; and grandchildren, Hannah Elaine Rowlett (Michael), Darrian "Lexi" Roberts (Austin Dunn) and Austin Roberts.
Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, October 28, 2021 at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Garry Polston and assisted by Rev. Lonnie Hardin, with burial in New Castle Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Austin Roberts, Austin Dunn, Michael Rowlett, Chad Stark, Mike Moore & Maurice Ray Payton. Contributions may be given to the New Castle United Methodist Church.

We are so sad to learn of Your mothers passing. Marvin and I met Mildred at EKU and remained friends for life. Such a treasure in our lives.

Mildred and I attended EKU 1960-1964. We met in Burnham Hall our first year and became good friends. Over the years we had great fun and shared many good memories.
After graduation, we continued to stay in touch with other friends by attending our annual EKU Girlfriend Reunions.
These meetings took place in the fall at Lexington where we spent 3 days attending Keenland and talking about "good times at school" and catching up on each others lives.
Mildred was always one of my favorite friends and I have many good memories of her.
She was always kind and loving ,she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
My love and prayers go to her family she loved all of you so much!
