Mildred "Millie" Moore Hamman, age 79, passed away Friday, March 24, 2023, at Valley Health Care in Chilhowie, VA. She was born August 19, 1943, in
Saltville, VA. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Cleveland and Maxie Moore. She attended R.B. Worthy High School in
Saltville, VA. In 1963 she went to work for the F.B.I. in
Washington, DC. She retired from the Department of Housing and Urban Development in February of 2003 with 40 years of Federal Government service. She was baptized at the First Christian Church in Allison Gap. While in Maryland, she attended Durham Episcopal Church in Nanjemoy, MD and was attending Macedonia Baptist Church in Chilhowie, VA at her death.
Mildred is survived by her first cousins, Willard "Weets" and Judy Moore, Dennis and Frankie Moore, with special thanks for all their help; step-daughters, Mary White (Rod), Ruth Robinson, Kristen Jenkins (John); three step grandchildren, Robert, Lena, and Kenny.
Graveside services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at the Elizabeth Cemetery in
Saltville, VA with Pastor Joey Roland officiating. The family will receive friends at Henderson Funeral Home from 2:30 until 3:30 prior to the service. Everyone is asked to meet at the funeral home to follow in procession to the cemetery.
