Mildred M. Hannant, 82 of Perry passed away Tuesday December 16, 2025 at Illini Hospital in Pittsfield. She was born March 19, 1943 in Burlington, Iowa the daughter of the late Ernest and Margaret Little Stauffer. She married Eddie Hannant June 11, 1961 in Perry and he preceded her in death September 17, 2024, also preceding her was a brother John Stauffer.
Millie graduated from Perry High School where she was a member of the Drum and Bugle Corps, traveling to perform in many events in and out of the state. She worked beside her husband on their farm and also as a cook for Perry schools and retired as head cook for Griggsville/Perry school district. Millie loved to help care for her grandchildren when they were young and so loved their weekly Sunday calls and weekend visits. She was so happy to become a great grandmother. She also enjoyed reading, word search, puzzles, going to the hairdresser, daily coffee with her siblings to catch up on all the goings on, and crocheting many afghans through the years. She was a member of the Perry Presbyterian Church. She with her family were honored this year at the Perry Pioneer Days.
Surviving are her sons, Mark Edward Hannant (April) of Taylorville, Il., Brian Lee Hannant (Kimberly) of Macomb, Il., Kurt Alan Hannant (Michele) of Perry, Il.; five grandchildren, Erin, Haley, Kendal (wife Ashley), Grant, and Mercedes; and one great-granddaughter, Harley; siblings, Martha Witham of Perry, Mary (Frank) Long of Jacksonville, Ken (Anita) Stauffer of Griggsville and Joan Drage of Auxvasse, Missouri.; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am Saturday December 20, 2025 at the Airsman-Hires Chapel in Griggsville. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery in Perry. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:30 until the time of the service. Memorials can be made to Wilson McCord Cemetery Association c/o Airsman-Hires Funeral Home PO Box 513 Pittsfield, IL 62363.
