Mildred A. Hicks, 87, of Poplar Bluff, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012 at Mark Twain Caring Center in Poplar Bluff. Mrs. Hicks was born Nov. 16, 1925 in Corning, Ark. She was a member of First General Baptist Church, and was a homemaker. Mrs. Hicks had previously worked for 12 years as a sales clerk at Montgomery Ward Department Store. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, music, singing in her church choir, and gardening. On Feb. 5, 1944, she married Gerald M. Hicks in Corning, Ark. He survives. Other survivors include five children, Gerald Mack Hicks (Judy), of Tallahassee, Fla., Loren Dale Hicks (Carolyn), of Williamsville, Jimmy Lawson Hicks (Vicki), of Farmington, Terry Wayne Hicks (Renae), of Poplar Bluff, and Karen Lea Throckmorton, of Atlanta, Ga.; ten grandchildren, David Hicks (Sharon), Gerald Hicks (Beth), Teresa Webb (Chris), Brian Hicks (Amanda), Jeffrey Hicks (Angela), Jamie Tullock (Michael), Corey Hicks (Sara), Allison Bell (Greg), Kathy Edwards (Chris) and Jennifer Throckmorton; eighteen great-grandchildren; and a sister, Glenna N. Taylor (Bob), of Poplar Bluff. Her parents, George L. and Mattie C. (Watson) Adams, son-in-law, Randy Throckmorton, and three brothers preceded Mrs. Hicks in death. Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral chapel with Rev. Jim Schremp officiating. Burial will be at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
