Mildred Goss "Mickey" Key
NEW ELLENTON - Mildred Goss "Mickey" Key, 74, passed away Monday evening, October 7, 2024 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the cherished wife of William L. "Billy" Key, Sr., with whom she shared 57 wonderful years of marriage
A native and life-long resident of Aiken County, Mickey was a daughter of the late Clarence and Mildred Mitchell Goss. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her working career included roles at DuPont at the Savannah River Site, Aiken Office Supply and Walmart (Whiskey Rd.). Mickey was a member of Talatha Baptist Church where she formerly served as youth leader and was a member of the homecoming committee. She was a former cheerleading coach for New Ellenton Youth Sports.
Surviving is her beloved husband, Billy; daughter, Brook Byers (Bruce), New Ellenton; son, Bobby Rinder (Robin), North Augusta; grandchildren, Paige Key, Kelly Key, Jaiden Garrett, Skylar Garrett, Rylie Garrett, Jesse Rinder, Jace Rinder; great-grandchildren, Bentley Milford, Oakley Key, Aislynn Key, J.J. Craven, Jr.; Seth Logan Oswald, who was like a grandson; Kellie Taylor, who was like a daughter; Ann Anderson, who was like her sister; brother-in-law, Charles Key (Ann); numerous nieces and nephews that include Kim Haupfear, Lindsey Hutson and April Hanna.
In addition to her parents, Mickey was preceded in death by her son, William "Larry" Key, Jr.; four siblings, Frances Boyd, Robert Goss, Lois Mosley and Barbara Cushman.
The family will receive friends Friday afternoon, October 11th from 2 until 3 o'clock at Talatha Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 3 o'clock with The Revs. Jordan Bird and David W. Little officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Porter, David Hubbard, Billy Watkins, Kenny Hanna, Kevin Haupfear and Travis Taylor.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Talatha Baptist Church's Building Fund, 361 Talatha Church Rd., Aiken, SC 29803.
