Mildred Luke Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lescher Millsap Funeral Service, LLC - Muskogee on May 12, 2024.
Mildred Maxine Luke of Muskogee Oklahoma passed away peacefully on Saturday May 11, 2024 at the age of 83. She was born October 17, 1940 to William and Florence (Franklin) Mickels in Warner, OK. Mildred grew up in and around Checotah. She married her one and only love, Cecil Luke, in 1956. In their early years they travelled and lived in Texas, Arizona, California, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho before settling in Muskogee.
Mildred quickly adapted from being one of eight sisters to living with a husband and her three boys. She encouraged and taught her boys to be involved in many sports and activities always attending and supporting their endeavors. Meanwhile she still managed to be a wonderful wife and business partner to her husband.
She spent countless hours raising her boys to be strong men who value family, honor and service. She loved to hear updates on her family, especially her boys adventures from all over the world. She was a strong woman who was always ready to protect her family. She had a keen sense of humor and laughed everyday.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren who at times lived in town. She fostered a love of reading in her grandchildren. Her grandchildren will miss her encouragement and unwavering support of following their dreams.
She was a passionate golfer and loved traveling to tournaments with her friends and playing in "Scotch Foursome" events with her husband.
She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; 6 sisters Nellie Suddarth, Kathy Russell, Edith Foster, Ann Walker, Joyce Thornton and Judy Fish; 3 brothers Henry, Claude and Herbert Mickels.
She is survived by her sons Rick Luke (Jody), Tom Luke (Stacey) and Danny Luke (Christy); grandsons Alex, Adam, Andy, and Parker; granddaughters Autumn, Ashley, Alyssa, Abby, Madeline, Amanda, and Emma as well as numerous great grand children and a great great grand child; brother Jody Mickels and sister Lois Hilger.
