Mildred Mellert

Mildred Mellert, 95, of Lexington, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, May 31, 2023. She was born August 22, 1927 in Ashland, Kentucky to the late Jethro and Hattie Bell Mullins. Mildred worked as an Assignment Specialist for General Telephone, and in her free time she enjoyed sewing, quilting, and crafting. She was a devoted member of the Beech Street Christian Church in Ashland, where she loved singing in the choir. She leaves precious memories with her daughter Rhonda Luray Mellert Garrett, two grandchildren Taryn and Christian Garrett, sister Geneva Elkins Dyer, niece Shelia Keaton, and great-niece Jamie Keaton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers A.C. Elkins, Raymond Elkins, and Reynold Elkins. A Remembrance Memorial Service will be at the Ashland Cemetery Chapel at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 14, with burial to follow. "There are not enough words to describe just how important a mother is and what a powerful influence she continues to be."
