Mildred Consuela Neckles was born on December 1, 1932 to Cornelius James and Mable James in Kingston, Jamaica. She graduated from Saint George Girls School in Jamaica then went to the United States to attend the Philadelphia Bible Institute from which she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Bible Studies. She continued her studies, earning a Bachelor’s in Education from Saint Francis College in New York City. She also furthered her studies at Long Island University pursuant to a Masters degree in Education.
Mildred married her beloved husband, Rudolph Barrymore Neckles in 1957, and from this union had three children. Mildred was a loving wife and devoted mother. She was a faithful believer who accepted Jesus Christ at a young age. She instilled strong ethical values along with religious principles in her family. She was very generous and kindhearted; always helping family and friends in need. She had a very positive impact on many lives. Mildred had worked tirelessly during her lifetime, and contributed greatly to her family's welfare. She held various positions at the financial institutions for whom she worked in New York. Several years later she opened her own employment agency finding sponsors for workers primarily from the West Indies. After a few years in the employment business she and her family moved to Albuquerque. She worked at Evangel Academy several years and then for Albuquerque Public Schools from which she retired after many years of teaching and caring for young children.
During her several months of illness, Mildred had never once failed to acknowledge God’s grace and goodness to her family and self. She was especially grateful for his sustaining power when all else failed. Now she is home with Jesus where she is enjoying His peace and rest.
Mildred was called Home by the Heavenly Father on September 25, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cornelius James and Mable James; her son, Kevin Neckles; sister, Sheila James; and brothers, Victor James, Mervyn James, and Owen James.
The beautiful memories of Mildred will remain forever in the hearts of husband, Rudolph Neckles; son, Shelton Neckles; daughter, Michelle Granberry; son-in-law, Gary Granberry; sisters, Marjorie McFarlane, Pansy Smith, and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchild, cousins, and friends.
